The Purpose Collective

Feb 14, 2023

Being led by the Holy Spirit in every area of your life, especially your purpose, is where a lot of Believers draw the line. They simply are not interesting in doing what God says when it isn’t in line with their interests.

I honestly think this approach is rooted in fear, but trusting God is safe. He uses the Holy Spirit to guide, teach, and direct us, among other things. So, I figured it might help to shed some light on what obeying the Holy Spirit can look like and I invited Mecca Gamble McConnell on the show to do it.

Mecca Gamble McConnell is an Atlanta-based photographer who creates images to elevate the digital presence of service-based entrepreneurs, tell their stories and leave their legacies. After earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Duquesne (ducane) University, she has dedicated the last decade to documenting the lives of black families, couples in love, and entrepreneurs.

Through her workshops, speaking engagements, and one-on-one training, she has helped dozens of growing photographers establish and grow their businesses. A number of popular wedding and lifestyle publications have featured her work, such as The Knot, Upscale, Essence, Pittsburgh Magazine, B Collective Magazine, and The Atlanta Tribune. She enjoys reading, Pilates, and trying new restaurants with her husband when she’s not behind the camera.

In ths episode Mecca and I discussed:

  • Her faith and when God became real to her
  • How she developed spiritual intimacy and discipline
  • The importance of being led by the Holy Spirit
  • How God is using her now
  • Where her purpose fits in all of this
